Jasper High School is continuing to collect personal hygiene items and cleaning supplies that will be transported to help tornado victims in Lee County. Donations must be made by tomorrow afternoon by visiting the front office of Jasper High. Pictured are students holding some items that were donated last Friday. Students at Carbon Hill Elementary School and Lupton Jr. High School participated in a "Wacky Wednesday" day as part of Read Across America celebrations at schools across the country. Many students dressed in a wacky fashion with their shirts or pants on backwards and wore mismatched clothing. Some students and teachers also had wild hairdos and wore fun accessories. The official Read Across America Day is on March 2, the birthday of popular children's author Dr. Seuss, and serves to encourage students to embrace reading. Local leaders are also visiting schools this week to read to students.
