What a whirlwind summer for the McCullars! Counting numerous impactful local mission projects as well as meaningful and life-changing mission trips to North Carolina and New York City, perhaps the most surprising trip was the one to Dallas, Texas in June. Our family attended the annual Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting in Dallas and we had no way to anticipate the unbelievable set of circumstances that would take place during and after that event. more

Even in the dog days of summer, there is always plenty of activity in the garden. A new session of the Walker County Master Gardeners course will begin Aug. 30 at the Walker County Extension Office. Classes will meet Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for 12 weeks. Examples of topics to be covered include home vegetable production, home orchards, soils and fertilizers, native plants, annuals and perennials, plant propagation, weed control in home  gardens and landscapes, plant diseases and insects, home turfgrass, and backyard wildlife. The cost of the class is $125.
