A local organization is looking for donations and volunteers to help provide Christmas gifts to families in need this holiday season. Kids Loving Kids is a nonprofit organization that helps children and teenagers, infants to 18 years old, in Walker and Winston counties. Thanks to the charity, the children receive Christmas gifts or other items they need in time for Christmas Day. The organization also has volunteers wrap each child’s gifts so they can open them on Christmas morning. more

A 7-year-old from Jasper has been named the winner of the second annual Daily Mountain Eagle Christmas Coloring Contest. Abby Gamotis, a student at T.R. Simmons Elementary School, won the contest, which was also sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of Walker County. Gamotis is the daughter of David and Jill Gamotis of Jasper. She received $100 in Chamber Checks for winning the contest.
