A ribbon cutting was held at the new home of Capstone Rural Health in Parrish on Friday. The clinic operated out of a mobile facility for years before moving into the current space, which has two floors and 10,000 square feet. Capstone has operated in Parrish since 2001 and now has additional locations in Jasper and Nauvoo. A clinic is soon to open in Arley.

The Alabama Department of Mental Health (ADMH) and Recovery Organization of Support Specialists (ROSS) launched a 24/7 Helpline at 1-844-307-1760 in July 2018. Callers are put in touch with a certified recovery support specialist who can connect them to the services they need.


Walker County Commission Chairman Jerry Bishop presented the key to Oakman's new community storm shelter to Fire Chief Shane Calloway and Nayor Cory Franks on Thursday. The new shelter is located on Washington Street next to the Oakman schools.
