PARRISH - U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt and local officials gathered on Wednesday in Parrish for the groundbreaking of the new Capstone Rural Health Center. The new medical facility, which will be next to the current facility in Parrish, will cover 10,000 square feet, according to Capstone’s executive director, Dr. David Jones. That compares to less than 4,000 square feet for the current facility. more

The Walker County Firefighters Association is currently selling tickets on a drawing for this beautiful T-shirt quilt, which features the logos of all 27 fire departments in Walker County. The tickets are $2 each and the quilt will be given away during the WCFA meeting being held on Tuesday, July 10. You do not have to be present to win. All proceeds from the giveaway will go the WCFA to help fund training for all the fire departments in Walker County.
