Samuel Truman Jent, 73, of Cordova, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at his residence.  

Sam was a first responder for many years. First with Carbon Hill Fire Dept. then Barney Fire Dept, Hay Valley Fire Dept. and Parrish Fire Dept. He was retired from Chevron Mining. He was currently working for Richard's Equipment.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Philadelphia Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Howard Thompson and Jeff Allred will officiate.

Mr. Jent was preceded in death by his father, Pat Jent; mother, Kathlyn Jent.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Douglas Jent of Cordova; daughters, Stephanie Jent Pope of Hamilton, LeAnn Jent Talley of Jasper and Gina Ritter of Nauvoo; sons, Sam Jent, Jr. of Cordova, Scott Jent of Cordova and John Smith of Seattle, WA; sisters, Robbye Shepard of Cordova and Patsy Couch of Cordova; brothers, Tommy "Boker"Jent of Cordova, Don Jent of Cordova and Ronald Jent of Cordova; grandsons, Brady Jent and Jeffery Ritter; granddaughters, Jenny Lynn Tutor, Brooke Jent, Cara Jent, Adelyn Jent, Jenna Grace Haley, Caitlyn Talley and Kaylee Ritter; great granddaughter, Gracelyn Jent.

Christine Clements, 100, of Carbon Hill, passed away on Monday, Nov. 11, 2019, at Walker Rehabilitation Center in Carbon Hill. Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at the New Flat Woods Primitive Baptist Church in Nauvoo. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the church with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery. Jimmy Burlhalter will officiate.

Ms. Clements was a charter member for 84 years. She was an amazing woman, a wonder, loving wife of 65 years, a loving mother and best friend to her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Conroe Clements; parents, Walter and Tinie Nix; four grandsons, Chad Nelson, Timothy Clements, William Reid Nelson and Brian Kenneth Nelson; granddaughter, Nancy Bridges. 

She is survived by her three daughters, Peggy Strickland, Betty Pinkley, Patsy Heath and her husband, Bill; son, Carl Clements and his wife, Phyllis; sisters, Lottie Lathum and Onnie B. Atkins; 10 grandchildren, Doug Pinkley, Amy Haney, Jeff Clements, Christina Smith, Cheryl Jones, Jason Nelson, Wanda LePage, Karin Knee, Becky Thompson and Ron Strickland; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and dear friends.

Edward Earl Richardson, 86, of Jasper, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019, at Walker Baptist Medical Center.
Family will be receiving friends on Thursday, November 14, 2019, from 12 until 2 p.m., at Jasper First United Methodist Church. Service will follow at 2 p.m., at Jasper First United Methodist Church, with Kilgore- Green Funeral directing. Burial at Walker Memory Gardens. 
Ed Richardson was born on May 24, 1933, to Troy and Lilla Richardson in Jasper, the fourth of ten children. In 1951, Ed began his professional baseball career in Panama City, FL. After being drafted in 1953 into the Army and spending two years in Korea, he continued his baseball career, playing for a number of cities including Shreveport, LA, St Paul, MN, Little Rock, AR, Victoria, TX, Macon, GA, and finally the Durham Bulls in NC.  
In 1962, he moved back to Alabama where he and his wife, Bobbie, would raise their two children and spend the rest of their years together. Ed retired from a long career at Allstate and spent most of his retirement fishing with Bobbie on the Alabama River and traveling to Birmingham or Jacksonville, FL to visit children and grandchildren. Ed was a longtime member of Jasper First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Lilla Richardson; siblings, Yvonne Richardson, Chris Scogin Snook, and James “Bud” Richardson.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bobbie J. Richardson; children, Carol R. Johnson (Gary) and Mark E. Richardson (Debbie); grandchildren, Jenny Strickland (Dustin), Matt Johnson (Betsy), Laura Johnson, Anna Claire Johnson and Mckenzie Richardson; siblings, Kathleen Anderson, Barbara Brown (Lawrence), Doug Richardson, (Barbara), Pat Hyche (Gene), Paula Wall (Ben) and Wanda Wolfe (Mike); five great grandsons and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Claud Edward Murray, age 81, of Jasper, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019, at Princeton Baptist Medical Center.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel. Burial will be at Walker Memory Gardens. Danny Carter will officiate.
Mr. Murray was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Murray; mother, Pauline Stewart Murray; father, Walter Gay Murray; sister, Juanita Harrison.
He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Dubberly, Tina Darty, Vickie Darty and Pam Gant; son, Claud E. Murray, Jr.; sisters, Dorothy Duggar and Francis Self; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren.

Gladys Haley, 73, of Kansas, entered into rest on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019, at her residence. There will be no service at this time.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kermit and Sylvia Smith; sister, Kay Davis; and two infant children.
She is survived by her daughter, Tonia Dotson (Mitch); two grandsons, Jason Haley and Cody Dotson. She is also survived by her son, Randall, and granddaughter, Cheyenne; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Nell D. Smith, 90, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on November 10, 2019.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 15, 2019, from 12 until 1 p.m., at Kilgore Green Funeral Home in Jasper. Services will follow at 1 p.m., in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, with burial at Old Flatwoods Cemetery. Tremaine Davis will be officiating.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Odell M. Smith; sons, Ricky T. Smith, Don E. Smith and Russell C. Smith; daughter-in- law, Wanda R. Smith; 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
She was a long time member of New Zion Baptist Church in Nauvoo. She spent many years there in service as Sunday school teacher and choir member.
She is survived by her sons, Michael D. Smith(Terri) of Fultondale and Stephen G. Smith(Gloria) of Sugarland, TX; a sister, Vera Lowe of Pleasant Grove; grandchildren, Terrell Smith (Kathy) of Atlanta, Ga, Wendy Nix (Brad) of Cordova, Jennifer LeVasseur of Seattle, WA, Toby Holmes (Amy) of Gardendale, Angel Smith of Trussville, Josh Holmes (Lacey) of Cullman and Kayla Smith of Fultondale; 10 great grandchildren and two special friends, Lady McGough of Nauvoo and Ruth Miller of Montgomery and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. 
Pall bearers will be Mike Smith, Toby Holmes, Josh Holmes, Cole Lawrence, Brad Nix and Brack Barnes.
Honorary pallbearer will be Steve Smith.
