Forest & Conservation Workers (10) needed temporarily for the following jobs. Work will be performed from 11/01/2012 to 08/31/2013. TREE PLANTING: Using a dibble, a small shovel, dig holes & plant one tree seedling per hole. Will be told how much space (steps) to put between each seedling. Dibble & seedling carrying bag will be provided for use. No required education level, but production requires workers to plant 2000 to 3000 seedlings per day, per worker. SPRAYING KUDZU: Walk through woods carrying a back-pack style sprayer (4 gallon capacity) of pre-mixed chemicals. Sprayer will be provided. Spray kudzu with sprayer wand until saturated, continue walking, & repeat spraying kudzu with sprayer wand. When sprayer is empty walk back to work vehicle, refill with pre-mixed chemicals, walk back to spot stopped at & continue spraying process until through or work day is over. PAINTING BOUNDARY LINES: Walk through woods carrying a machete, & 1 to 2 gallons of boundary line paint, machete & paint will be provided. Scrape bark band on tree using machete, may require band all the way around tree, will be told the size of the bark band. Once bark band is scraped onto tree, paint boundary line around tree, paint 1 line inside property & 1 line outside property, will be showed how to do this. Walk 25 feet (tree to tree) repeat boundary line process for each tree until through or work day is over. ERADICATING PRIVET: Walk through woods carrying a hand-held sprayer (2 gallon capacity) of pre-mixed chemicals, sprayer will be provided, spray privet 1 to 2 inches from root. When sprayer is empty, walk back to work vehicle refill with pre-mixed chemicals, walk back to spot stopped at & continue spraying process until through or work day is over. Normal work week is M-F 8 AM to 4:30 PM, unless we miss any days due to unfavorable weather, will then work on Saturday and/or Sunday to make up for missed days. Workers will get 40 hours per week, no overtime. Prevailing Wage is $20.40 per hour. No required education level, but workers are required to have 6 Months Employment Experience in the following occupations: Tree Planting, Spraying Kudzu, Eradicating Privet, & Painting Boundary Lines. Workers will be required to travel to a designated location in Fayette, AL where they will then be transported to/from the work-site. Work site will be within a 100 mile radius of Fayette County. Workers will be required to be at designated location at a specified time each workday morning. Valid Drivers License (US or Foreign Issued) required, must be prepared for adjustment in working hours/days due to unfavorable weather, must be able to use provided tools for job(s), must be able to meet tree planting production (2000 to 3000) per day, per worker. Work-site locations in Walker County include Old Highway 5, Highway 13, Highway 69, & Highway 18.
