Parrish police arrested Zugeida Bruton, 21, also known as “Zuzu,” Saturday morning on charges of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and carrying a pistol without a permit.

Bruton lives at 263 Roberts Circle in Parrish, but she was arrested in her vehicle, a black Lincoln LS. Smith said the department will file for civil forfeiture on the vehicle.

“We’ve been investigating this individual since mid-March,” Smith said. “We had information that she was supplying other dealers in the Jasper and Parrish areas.”

“We believe she is a mid-level dealer with ties to Walker County and Georgia,” Smith said. According to Smith, she splits time between the two locations.

Parrish police received assistance from the Walker County Sheriff’s Office in the case.

Bruton was transferred to the Walker County Jail, where she was released on a $30,000 bond Tuesday.
