2 charged with sex crimes against underage victims

Two men were arrested and charged with sodomy involving underage victims in two separate cases in the past two days.

A Jasper man was jailed Friday morning after warrants were issued Thursday for his arrest.

Barry Woods, 34, of Jasper turned himself in to authorities early Friday morning and was charged with two counts of first-degree sodomy and two counts of second-degree sodomy. He was being held in the Walker County Jail on a $30,000 property bond.

The case is being handled by the Walker County Sheriff’s Office.

In a separate arrest, Kenneth Ray Pickett, 46, of Boldo was arrested Thursday by sheriff’s deputies and charged with first-degree sodomy and enticing a child for immoral purposes.

Pickett also faces charges of sodomy, sexual abuse and enticing a child for immoral purposes in a separate incident. He is currently being held in the county jail on bonds totaling $1 million for both cases involving multiple victims.
