A local constable was honored for his exemplary assistance to law enforcement

Walker County Beat 3 Constable Wayne Smith was awarded a certificate of appreciation from Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange on Friday during a political rally at the Thach Community Center. Strange awarded the certificate to Smith for “exemplary assistance to law enforcement and to the people of Alabama.”

Smith has been constable for four years in the Thach community. He has also been the vice president for Drug Free Walker County for eight years. He also provided assistance in several investigations in Walker County with Special Agents of the Alabama Attorney General’s Office.

Smith said he was surprised by presentation.

“I’ve worked on several investigations with the agents from the Attorney General Office, but had no idea they were going to do something like this,” Smith said. “I’m honored to receive this the Certificate of Appreciation from Attorney General Luther Strange.”
