Addison improves to 5-0 after shutout win

ADDISON — Dillon Jarrett rushed for three touchdowns and the fourth-ranked Addison Bulldogs earned their third straight lopsided win on Friday night, beating Appalachian 48-0.

The Bulldogs scored early and often against the Eagles. Addison led 14-0 after the first quarter and 28-0 at the half.

Franky Melson got the scoring started for Addison (5-0, 4-0), going into the end zone on a 10-yard run. Colby Kirk scored the Bulldogs’ second touchdown on an 84-yard punt return as the team build a 14-0 lead.

In the second quarter, Jarrett added his first score on a 38-yard touchdown run to make the score 20-0. Kyle Denson scored on an 8-yard run to put Addison ahead 28-0 at halftime.

Addison added two more touchdowns in the third quarter, both from Jarrett. He scored on runs of 64 and 6 yards and the Bulldogs led 41-0 heading into the fourth quarter. The final score came on a 96-yard interception return by Devin Marlin.

Offensively, Addison totaled 345 yards with 302 coming on the ground. Jarrett led the team with 135 yards and his three scores on just eight carries.

Defensively, Kirk also added an interception.

Addison, which has won its last three games by a combined score of 138-7, stays in region play next week with a trip to county rival Meek.
