Sipsey Elementary/Jr. High School Principal Chris Harris was recently placed on administrative leave, according to school officials.

Rumors circulated earlier this week stating that Harris was escorted from the school, but Harris said that was not true.

Walker County Schools Superintendent Jason Adkins said Harris was placed on administrative leave but said he could not speak further on the matter.

A decision was made by the Walker County Board of Education in April to close the Sipsey school, T.S. Boyd Elementary/Jr. High School and Parrish High School at the end of this school year. However, both Harris and Adkins said it is a personal issue and is not school-related.

Harris said his attorney, Charles R. Stephens, Sr., recommended he not comment until the “minor” issue was taken care of. Harris said the administrative leave was a mutual understanding between he and Adkins and that he hopes to have it settled by the end of next week.
