Berry shuts down Lynn

BERRY -- Berry continued its hot streak on Friday night.

The Wildcats held Lynn’s potent offensive attack to just one touchdown in a 22-6 home win over the Bears.

Berry (5-2, 4-1) won its fifth straight game after opening the season 0-2. Berry scored on the first play from scrimmage on a 70-yard reverse pass for a 6-0 lead. The Wildcats added another touchdown in the second quarter and got the two-point conversion for a 14-0 halftime lead.

Berry made the score 22-0 on a 4th-and-15 touchdown pass.

Lynn finally got on the board late in the game when Brody Meeks hit Ben Cagle on a 25-yard touchdown pass with 30 seconds left in the game.

Lynn had 119 yards rushing and 53 passing for 172 total yards. Berry had 224 yards rushing and 126 passing for a 350 total. Meeks had 82 rushing yards on 18 attempts and 53 passing yards on 5 of 17 attempts. Cagle had two receptions for 42 yards and a 25-yard td reception.

Lynn (4-3, 2-3) hosts Parrish next week in a key Class 1A, Region 5 game for the Bears.
