Bette Pike Keeton, 81, of Nauvoo, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at her residence. She graduated from Carbon Hill High School and received bachelor of science and master of arts in education degrees from the University of Alabama. She taught school at Lupton Jr. High School for 37 years and she was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. Her greatest loves were gardening, visiting with the Blue Hat Ladies from Lupton, and taking her great-granddaughters to all home football games at the University of Alabama.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Liberty Grove Baptist Church prior to services. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at Liberty Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Darlene Tannehill will officiate.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cranford Pete Keeton; mother, Lona Cook Pike; father, Delmar (D.D.) Pike; sister, Sue Pike Foster; brother, Dewayne Pike; and nephew, Kevin Pike.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra Keeton Humphries (Melvin) of Nauvoo; grandchildren, Nicole Humphries Abner (Michael) of Jasper and Nicholas Humphries (Leah) of Atlanta, Ga.; and great-grandchildren, Ella Brooke Abner, Cheryl Gann Abner and Keeton Humphries.

Pallbearers will be Brad Adkins, Todd Foster, Michael Abner, Keith Pike, Chris Myers, Edd Briggs and Ronnie Brown.

Her family thanks Comfort Care Hospice and special caregiver Tammy Hulsey.
