The family will receive friends today, May 22, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Collins-Burke Chapel. Burial will follow at Walker Memory Gardens. David Byrd will officiate.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Gertrude Groves, and Harry and Esther Morris; father, Nathan Groves; mother, Linnie Dean Starr; and sister, Ruby Lee Groves.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda; son, David Michael (Jamie) of Jasper; daughters, Angela Groves of Jasper and Karren Avery (Gary) of Birmingham; grandson, Zachary Groves; seven granddaughters, Jordyn Avery, Kaitlyn Avery, Brantley Avery, Brooklyn Avery, Lily Groves, Cara Groves and Chloe Groves; brother, Warren Groves (Juanita) of Brady, Texas; sisters, Roevernie Griffith and Maurevine Van Alyne of Cordova; Bobbie Franklin of Jasper and Naomi Odom of Gardendale; and brother-in-law, Don Durham of Curry.
