The headquarters for Walker County’s Republican and Democratic parties are now open to the public.

Both sites offer help with registering to vote as well as campaign stickers, buttons and signs from candidates on both the national and local levels.

Linda Ensor, president of the Walker County Republican Party, said there is a great deal of interest among members of the GOP for this year’s election.

“I think it's strong from the White House down to the courthouse," she said.

The local Republican headquarters will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Nath Camp, chairman for the Walker County Democratic Party, said volunteers are setting up big-screen TVs and wireless Internet access at their headquarters.

"We're trying to make it a place to hang out for people who want to help Democrats," Camp said.

Camp said party organizers are still looking for volunteers to keep their headquarters open.

The Walker County Democratic Party Headquarters is located near the old Dodge Chrysler dealership in Jasper, in the same shopping center with TitleMax.

The Walker County Republican Party Headquarters is located across Highway 118 in the shopping center off Pediatric Drive, near Jasper’s Wal-Mart Supercenter.

Ensor said local GOP officials are planning several upcoming events that will allow voters to meet the candidates.

On Oct. 4, the Walker County Republican Party will hold a fundraiser featuring Secretary of State Beth Chapman and Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice candidate Roy Moore.

The event will be held at 6 p.m. in the Community Health Systems Activities Center in Jasper.
