Carbon Hill closes season 0-10

COLD SPRINGS — Carbon Hill closed out its second straight winless season on Friday night, falling to the Cold Springs Eagles 60-7.

The Bulldogs (0-10) have dropped 20 straight games since beating the Eagles in the 2011 season finale.

Cold Springs opened the scoring when Logan Campbell scored the first of four touchdowns on a 26-yard run just 2:32 seconds into the game. He also added the two-point conversion giving Cold Springs an early 8-0 lead.

Carbon Hill (6-4) answered on a 1-yard run by Derrick Simerly with 2:28 remaining in the first quarter. The extra point was good cutting the lead to 8-7.

Campbell scored his second touchdown of the game just 28 seconds later on a 60-yard touchdown run. Caleb Ellison added the 2-point conversion and the Eagles were up 16-7 at the end of the first quarter.

The Eagles scored again four minutes into the second quarter when Campbell ran 47 yards for his third touchdown of the game. Campbell converted the two-point conversion and Cold Springs extended their lead to 24-7.

The Eagles added a defensive touchdown when Corey Moore recovered a Carbon Hill fumble and returned it 10 yards for a score. The two-point conversion was good and Cold Springs was up 32-7. Logan Campbell intercepted a pass for the Eagles and returned it to the Carbon Hill five yard line. He then took a handoff and took it the five yards for his fourth touchdown of the night. The two-point conversion failed giving Cold Springs a 38-7 halftime lead.

Caleb Ellison scored the only offensive touchdown of the third quarter when he ran 25 yards that was set up by a Carbon Hill turnover. The two-point conversion was good and the Eagles had a commanding 46-7 lead in the third quarter.

Austin Moore intercepted a Carbon Hill pass and returned it 45 yards for the second Eagle defensive TD of the game. The extra point was no good and Cold Springs was up 52-7 with 1:31 left in the third quarter.

Cold Springs rounded out the scoring with 9:45 left in the game when River Banks ran 45 yards to the endzone.

Logan Campbell led the game and the Eagles in rushing with 183 yards on 13 carries and four touchdowns.

Carbon Hill was led in rushing by Stevie Simerly who had 57 yards on five carries.
