CURRY — Lindsey Fluker had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Carbon Hill Lady Bulldogs past Curry for the Curry Tip-Off Tournament title Monday night.

Carbon Hill held the Lady Jackets scoreless in the first quarter and never looked back, beating Curry 43-16 to win the four-team tournament.

The Lady Bulldogs, who beat Dora in their first-round game on Thursday, gave up just 33 points in two tournament games. Carbon Hill knocked off Dora 41-17.

Against Curry, Carbon Hill led 7-0 after the first quarter and 21-8 at the half. Carbon Hill outscored Curry 15-3 in the third quarter for a 36-11 advantage.

Caroline Dodd had 10 points for Carbon Hill, Savanna Lawson had five, Brittany Harding put in four and both Megan Bice and Ashley Tubbs had two points.

Carbon Hill (2-0) gets a week off before hosting Curry in the home opener on Nov. 22.



Consolation Game

Dora 62, Corner 14

Dora took third place in the tournament, beating Corner 62-14 in Mondaay’s first game.

The Lady Bulldogs (1-1) jumped out to a 22-2 lead after the first quarter and pulled away from there, leading 39-4 at the half and 54-13 going into the final quarter.

For Dora, Ya’Shea Chapel led a balanced offensive attack with 12 points, Simone Billups put in 10 and Ashley Austin and Alex Weldon added eight points apiece.

Ten girls scored in the game for Dora.

Dora hosts American Christian Academy on Thursday and plays at Curry on Friday.



Carbon Hill junior high boys sweep Curry

Carbon Hill picked up a pair of wins at Curry Middle School on Monday with the seventh-grade boys winning 28-27 and the eighth-grade boys winning 44-40.

In the seventh-grade game, Spencer Johnson had 13 points for the Bulldogs followed by Jericho Lewis with seven, Justin Simerly with six and Eric Lee with two. Curry was led by Payne with 13 points and Betts with seven.

In the eighth-grade game, Justis Barnett led all scorers with 15 points for the Bulldogs. Colton Plunkett had seven points, Hunter Robbins had five, Nathan Johnson, Brady Pare and Jacob Kilgore had four each, Brett Atkins had three and Bradley Burditt had two for Carbon Hill. Curry was led by Harrison and Key with eight points each.

Carbon Hill hosts a Thanksgiving Tournament on Thursday and Friday.
