Audra Bean, director of public relations and marketing at Vulcan Park and Museum, said the Birmingham landmark has offered “I Do with a View” wedding packages on Feb. 14 for the past three years.
Bean said Vulcan is the Southern version of New York City’s Empire State Building, which also hosts weddings on Valentine’s Day.
“So many people get engaged here or have their first date here. We hear so many stories of couples who have used Vulcan as a romantic symbol,” Bean said.
Fourteen couples will have the opportunity to say “I do” or renew their vows at Vulcan on Feb. 14. All ceremonies will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Reservations are made on a first-come, first- served basis. Most of the spots are still available. However, the sunset wedding ceremony package has already been sold.
Bean said local wedding experts make the day possible for the newlyweds, and all proceeds help fulfill the mission of the Vulcan Park and Museum.
The Valentine’s Day package is $400 and includes an intimate 30-minute, outdoor ceremony for each couple and up to 10 guests.
A licensed officiate as well as a keepsake bridal bouquet and boutonniere, professional photographs and a champagne toast for the bride and groom are also provided.
All couples will also receive a sampling of light hors d’oeuvres, a complementary makeup session for the bride, a keepsake wedding announcement and a SWAG bag with more than $100 worth of goodies inside.
Bean said Vulcan’s event facility is available year-round for weddings, receptions, rehearsal dinners, and other large events.
However, the Valentine’s Day package is designed for couples on a budget.
“It’s perfect for people who might be considering going to the courthouse or who can’t afford a $20,000 reception. Now they can incorporate Vulcan on their special day,” Bean said.
