Cecil Franklin Estes, 67, of Eldridge, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Feb. 25, 2013, surrounded by his family.

The arrangements include the family receiving friends today, Feb. 27, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home in Jasper. The funeral will be held on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, in the chapel of Kilgore-Green at 1 p.m., Dr. Kenneth Bentley officiating. Burial will follow at Kelley Cemetery, located on U.S. Highway 78 in Eldridge.

Estes is preceded in death by his father, Cecil Lee Estes; and his precious grandson, Jacob Elliot Johnson

His is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Judie Lynn Estes of Eldridge; son, Bryan Estes of Eldridge; daughter, Stephanie Estes Johnson and her husband, Frankie Johnson, of Jasper. He was lovingly known as “Pop” by his grandchildren, Josh and Nick Estes, and Connor and Kaitlyn Johnson. He is also survived by his loving mother, Lila Kendrick Estes; brothers, sisters, a host of relatives and friends.

Frank worked twenty years as a millwright. After that, he worked in various areas of coal and timber operations including Alabama Wood Products and LaFayette Woodyard in Mississippi. He developed Lake Pointe and South Pointe subdivisions located on Lewis Smith Lake and another in the Black Pond community. His latest endeavor was Franklin Bend Estates located on the Black Warrior River.

Frank loved his family and community and served them well and accomplished much in his life.

His greatest passion was being a favorite playmate to all his grandchildren and spending time with his family.

The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the host of angels sent to help as caregivers including New Beacon Hospice (Gary Wheeler, Darlene Ingle, Carla Johnson and Carla Henson); John, Barbara and Scott Hughes, Bill Lynn, Danny Estes and Debbie Farris.

Pallbearers will be Josh Estes, Nick Estes, Connor Johnson, Bob Tucker, Dwayne Tucker, Danny Estes, Larry Kendrick, Wayne Kimbrell, Jim Kendrick, John T. Hinds, Ken Kendrick, Theman Ingle, Mike Lambert and Dennis Kendrick.
