He was a member of Sayre Church of Christ, was formerly employed with Pullman Standard and Black Warrior Minerals and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel, with burial following at McCormack Cemetery. Clay Barnes will officiate.
Visitation will be held today, Jan. 4, 2011, from 6 until 8 p.m. at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Sue Carden and Mary Ruth Victory; and a brother, James Bernard Carden.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Thelma Carden; daughter, Nancy (Loyd) Cummings of Corner; son, Greg (Mary Alyce) Carden of Birmingham; grandchildren, Cara (Butch) Jacobs, Logan (Nikki) Carden, Alyssa (Chris) Peed, Taylor Carden and Peyton Carden; great grandchildren, Carden Jacobs and Mary Holland Jacobs; sister-in-law, Regina (John) Barrow; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
