Clara Bernice Winnett Shugart, 74, of Jasper, passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Walker Baptist Medical Center. Bernice was an immaculate seamstress abd was known to her sewing buddies as “The Sewlady.” She was precious to her family and was the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt that anyone could ask for. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Jasper and a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Nyota Chapter 248 O.E.S. of Warrior.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. today, July 23, 2012, at Collins-Burke Funeral Home Parlor prior to services. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, July 23, 2102 at Collins-Burke Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Walker Memory Gardens. Alan Beasley will officiate.

She was preceded in death by her father, Carter Winnett; mother, Clara Mae Sharritt Winnett; and sister, Martha Jane Winnett.

She is survived by her husband, Abie Foster Shugart Jr. of Jasper; son, Donald (Ann) Shugart; daughter, Keslie (Timothy) Woods; brothers, Amos (Judy) Winnett, Morris (Reba) Winnett and Horace (Sue) Winnett; sister, Velma Mikell; granddaughters, Katie Shugart and Emily Woods; grandson, Spencer Woods; special sister, (Sheila (Ricky) Gregory; and a host of nieces, nephews and sewing friends.

Pallbearers will be Spencer Woods, Lee Kilgore, Mike Winnett, Bobby Winnett, Steve Winnett and Wesley Kilgore.
