Members of one local church are inviting families to participate in a reenactment of the final days of Jesus Christ this weekend.

“Walk With Jesus,” which will be hosted by Jasper’s First Baptist Church on Saturday, is one of many Easter celebrations that will be going on this week.

It will feature five multi-sensory scenes that will allow children to witness events from the triumphal entry through the resurrection. There will also be a variety of related activities, such as footwashing at the Last Supper.

“We’ve done Easter egg hunts and things like that in the past. I thought this would be something new that we could try,” said Anne Burfitt, interim director of children’s minstries at the church.

Interactive tours will begin at 10 a.m. Each scene is expected to last approximately 12 minutes. The final tour will depart at noon.

Light refreshments will be served at the end of the tour.

Burfitt said the presentation is appropriate for children in preschool through elementary school. There is no cost to participate.

“I hope it will be a good time for families to be together and enjoying the Easter season,” Burfitt said.

The following is the complete list of Holy Week and Easter events that have been submitted to the Daily Mountain Eagle.
