Representatives from Byars & Associates recently announced the insurance company’s merger with independent insurance group the David Beaird Agency.

Byars & Associates President Haig Wright said he and his staff are excited to continue the great service to which the Beaird Agency’s customers are accustomed.

“They have 40 years in the business, and have provided good service over 40 years to this community,” he said.

David Beaird said that after his wife passed away on Aug. 31, he didn’t feel like continuing the business. However, he said he believes his customers are in good hands with Byars & Associates.

“We’ve been friendly competitors for many years,” Beaird said. “I’ve never said anything bad about him.”

Beaird said he even worked for Wright’s father at Primm Wright Insurance Agency in the 1960s.

The David Beaird Agency was established in 1972 and primarily insured individual clients and churches.

Byars & Associates has been in operation since 1946. Wright said three generations of his family have worked at the Jasper company.

According to Wright, Byars & Associates will not take over the David Beaird Agnecy’s location in Jasper. Any work done on the policies or claims of former Beaird Agency customers will be done at the Byars & Associates location across from Jasper’s First Baptist Church.

Wright said factors like the April 27 tornadoes have changed the landscape of the insurance market in the area, and he is honored Beaird has put his confidence in Byars & Associates.

“We’re excited about this opportunity; they don’t come along very often,” Wright said.
