Cora Edith Ellis Baker was born Nov. 3, 1920, and passed from this life Thursday, May 8, 2014, at her sister’s house in Eldridge.

The family will receive friends today, May 10, 2014, from noon until 2 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be today, May 10, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the Kilgore-Green Chapel. Levi Sides and Lonnie Ingram will officiate.

Burial will follow at Walker Memory Gardens in Jasper.

Baker was a member of the Sixth Avenue Church of Christ. She was married to Otha Hester of Moundville, who gave his life serving his country in WWII. Cora Edith, spent many volunteer hours at the V.A. Hospital and the Bryce Institutions in Tuscaloosa.

She was proceeded in death by her father, John Wesley Ellis Sr.; mother, Lettie Cordelia Banks Ellis; husbands, Otha Hester, Ray Medders and Ben Baker; four brothers, Lish Ellis, Marlin Ellis, Chester Ellis and Lester Ellis; one sister Ruth Gardner; two sisters-in-law, Akemi Ellis and Flora Ellis; and three nephews, Rex Gardner, Craig Ellis and John Bartley Wyers.

She is survived by her twin brother, John W. Ellis Jr. of Coosada; sister, Johnnie B. Ellis Wyers (Marcus) of Eldridge; very special friends at Lakewood Assisted Living; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Bartley Wyers, Marcus Wyers Jr., Eric Aultman, Joel Ellis, Alex Aultman, Joseph Ellis and John Ellis.
