The Tigers picked up a 70-14 victory and the right to continue on to round two of the Class 4A playoffs.
The Tigers offense managed to put up 425 rushing yards and 518 yards total offense. Corner had 281 total offensive yards for the night.
Dadeville (10-1) wasted no time taking control. Terry Toler, Damarius Gilbert, C.J. Tolbert and Kaleb Beck all grabbed TDs in the first quarter. By the start of the second quarter, the Tigers had a 28-0 lead.
The Yellow Jackets pushed their way into Dadeville territory with eight minutes remaining in the second, but DHS’s Anfernee Jennings stopped the drive short by taking a fumble recovery all the way back to make it 42-0.
With a healthy lead, the Tigers opted to put Cal Jones under center. The backup quarterback grabbed two touchdowns himself before half to bring the score to 56-0.
Jones had eight carries for the night for 86 yards and two touchdowns.
The game marked the return of C.J. Tolbert, who was benched after a hard hit at Clay Central two weeks ago. Tolbert came back with a vengeance, with 11 carries for 214 yards and two touchdowns.
All of the Tiger’s passing yards came in the first half. Beck was 2 for 5 for 83 yards and two touchdowns. Toler snatched one reception for a touchdown, while Gilbert picked up the other on a 70-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
Corner got on the board with a pair of third-quarter touchdowns. Austin Sanford scored the first on a 2-yard run and Blake Byrd followed with a six-yard touchdown run two minutes later.
Dadeville’s Jamal Crayton tacked on another 6 to the Tiger tally with 5:14 left in the third quarter. Darius Miller marched 51 yards down the sideline for the final touchdown of the night.
Friday’s game also marked the 500th tackle for star defensive tackle Rod Crayton. Crayton is currently narrowing his college choices within the next few weeks from a list including such schools as LSU, Tennessee, Penn State, Mississippi State and Arkansas.
Dadeville will go on the road for round two, traveling to Mobile for a matchup with UMS-Wright. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
