He was preceded in death by his mother, Willie Mae Byars; father, Chesley Byars; and brother, Johnie Wayne Byars.
He is survied by his four children, David Byars Jr., Mark Byars, Tammy Ruggiero and Shannon Byars; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 27 nieces and nephews; brothers, Tom Byars and Tony Byars; sisters, Pat Lewis Barbara Farris, Susie Stevens, Claudette Byars and Kimma Byars; special friends, Bonnie Hicks and Tom Miller; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
