Dennis Wayne Owens, 57, of Empire, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Bell Sumiton Chapel with burial in Dilworth Cemetery. Ronnie Clark and Randy Owens will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Owens was employed with Handley Trucking.

Preceding him in death was his father, Ivan Owens.

Survivors include his loving mother, Betty Owens of Empire; sons, Nathan Owens of Empire and Brandon Owens of Tutwiler; sister, Carol Conner of Jasper and Diane Martin (Bits) of Sumiton; grandchildren, Coleton Busby and Jacob Allen; special nieces and nephews, Krista Owens, Josh Conner, Kyra Conner, Nicholas Martin, Kimberly Martin and Shanna Martin; special brother, Don Owens; and a host of cousins, co-workers and friends who were very dear to his heart.
