She was born to Lula Kennedy Dykes and Silas Dykes on July 6, 1929.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and church mother. She was a homemaker and also worked in a nursing home for several years. She was loved by many.
Visitation will be held Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Spring Hill Church of God in Nauvoo.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the church with Sister Deb Guthrie officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Ash Bank Cemetery in Nauvoo.
She was predeceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters; daughter, Shirley Scoles Sampson; son, Richard Scoles; and great-grandsons, Jacob Kelley and Corey Atkins.
She is survived by her son, Carl Scoles and his wife, Jan of Leesville, La.; grandchildren, Connie McDaniel and her husband, Scott of Kansas, William Atkins and his wife, Terrie of Houston, Ala., Kevin Scoles of Carbon Hill, April Crane of Nauvoo, and Christopher Scoles of Nauvoo; great-grandchildren, David Olivias, Crystal Whitlow, Nicholas Atkins, Whitney Atkins, Andrew Kelley, and Carlee Crane; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
