DORA — It was a tale of two halves Friday night for the Dora Bulldogs.

Dora jumped out to a halftime lead, but couldn’t muster any offense in the second half as Jemison earned a 26-21 win at Horace Roberts Field.

Dora (4-4, 3-3) got things started on their first possession of the game by marching 78 yards in 8 plays for the first score of the game as Jacob Twilley scored from 2 yards out. Jack Spradlin kicked the PAT giving the Bulldogs an early 7-0 lead.

Jemison’s first possession resulted in a three and out.

Dora took over at its 13-yard line, and on its third play, quarterback Logan Ledbetter was intercepted at the Bulldog 40.

It took the Panthers five plays to reach pay dirt as quarterback Kevin Nunn hit Raequan Jones on an 11-yard strike to cut the Dora lead to 7-6 going into the second quarter.

The Dora defense rallied from there, holding Jemison to 60 first-half yards.

Dora would get on the board again in the opening half, driving 57 yards.  Ki’Juana Babbs closed the drive on a 5-yard touchdown run. Dora led 14-6 at the half. The Bulldog offense totalled 164 first half yards.

The second half would be a totally different story for the Bulldogs as the offense was held to a total of 21 yards of offense and five straight punts.

Jemison (7-1, 5-1) evened the score midway through the third quarter when Justin Caudle recovered a blocked Ledbetter punt in the end zone. Kortlin Zeigler passed to Nunn for the two-point conversion to knot the score at 14 all with 7:10 to play in the period.

Randy Saterfield would take over for Jemison in the fourth quarter. Following a Bulldog punt, Satterfield returned the kick 57 yards to set up the Panthers first and goal at the Bulldog 7-yard line. Three plays later John Underwood scored from 1-yard out to give Jemison their first lead of the game at 20-14.

On Jemison’s next possession, Nunn found Satterfield across the middle and he outraced the Bulldog defense to the 2 yard line. From there it took the Panthers 1 play to find the end zone as Keyshawn Jemison scored on a 2-yard run and the Panthers led 26-14 with 5:25 to play.

The Bulldogs held Jemison on its next set of downs, and on fourth down the Bulldogs blocked a Panther punt and Logan Roberts returned it 20 yards for the touchdown. Spradlin again converted as Dora drew within 26-21.

The ensuing onside kick was fallen on by the Panthers ending the Bulldogs comeback. Babbs led Dora with 80 yards on 20 carries. Dora can wrap up a playoff trip next week as they travel to Carbon Hill, while Jemison hosts Calera.
