DORA — Dora needed just seven weeks to secure a playoff spot. Now the Bulldogs turn their attention to a region championship.

The 10th ranked Dora Bulldogs earned a trip to the postseason with a 48-21 win over the Oak Grove Tigers Friday night at Horace Roberts Field. The Bulldogs picked up 460 yards rushing.

Dora (6-1, 5-0), scored on the second play of the game as Kai Thomas scored the first of three touchdowns on the night from 15 yards out to make it 6-0. The Bulldogs hit pay dirt again as Oak Grove was short on a field goal try which Thomas caught at the 5 yard line and outraced the entire Tiger defense 95 yards to the end zone. After the 2 point conversion, Dora was up 14-0.

Dora's next posession took one play as Demarcus Kirk got loose for an 82 yard scoring run. Tanner Gordy's PAT made it 21-0. Kirk had 94 yards on 3 carries. Caleb May got in on the act next with the first of his three scores as he raced 17 yards for a score. Gordy added the point-after for a 28-0 lead.

Oak Grove (1-6, 0-5) finally got on the board as Trey Prestridge scored from a yard out. Daniel Murkerson added the PAT to cut the lead to 28-7. Prestridge had 170 yards rushing for the Tigers.

Dora answered the Tiger score on the next play as May got loose for a 57-yard run as the Dogs made it 35-7. The Tigers scored again a minute later as Austin Lawrence hit Dylan Harmon with an 18-yard strike. Murkerson's PAT made it 35-14.

The Bulldogs closed out the first half scoring as Thomas, who had 126 yards rushing in the game, exploded for 84 yards for a 41-14 lead heading to the locker room. Thomas now has 1,015 yards rushing for the year. The teams each scored once in the second half.

Caleb May closed out the Bulldog scoring as he turned a broken play into a 47-yard score. Gordy kicked it to 48-14.

May added 121 yards rushing and 52 yards passing in the game. Oak Grove closed the scoring as Stephen Hooper who had 65 yards rushing, rumbled 10 yards for a touchdown. Murkerson added the point for a final score of 48-21. The teams combined for over 1,000 yards of offense on the night. Dora was led on defense by Cade Stone, Stonie Phillips and Jase Black.

The Bulldogs travel to Jemison (5-2, 4-1) next Friday as they try to wrap up a region championship.

Dora hasn’t won a region championship since 2004.
