The Dora senior won his first two matches at the State Wrestling Tournament at Huntsville’s Von Braun Center on Friday and will compete for the 132-pound championship today.
Boshell (18-2), vying for his third straight state title, won each of his first two matches by a single point, beating Christian Simmons of Leeds 6-5 and edging Matt Murray of St. James 2-1 in the semifinals.
Boshell will meet Jamario Howard (39-5) of Lincoln in the title match.
Boshell wasn’t the only area wrestler to advance to the finals.
Corner’s Cody Deason breezed through his first two matches and will compete for the state title at the 220-pound division.
Deason opened with a first-round pin of Talladega’s Jake Baker and followed with a second-round pin of J.B. Pennington’s Hunter Smith.
Deason (27-2) battles St. Clair County’s Levi Green (55-3) in today’s title match.
A total of 11 area wrestlers from Dora, Corner, Sumiton Christian and Walker advanced to the state tournament.
Another Dora wrestler advanced to the consolation bracket. In the 126-pound division, Austin Everett lost his opener 12-9 to Calera’s Jarrett Seiger. Everett bounced back with a first-round pin of Corner’s Dalton Absher and a 12-6 decision over Ranburne’s Bradley Gibbs.
Everett (54-20) will face Deshler’s Taylor Shirley (27-17) in today’s third-place match.

•Sumiton Christian’s Dalton Chandler (18-10) went 1-2 on the day in the 113-pound division.
•Dora’s Chase Warren (53-25) finished 1-2 on the day in the 120-pound division.
•Walker’s Cru Birdyshaw (21-14) won his opener and finished 1-2 in the 285-pound division.
•Corner’s Dalton Absher (17-9) went 0-2 on the day in the 126-pound division.
•Dora’s Vernon Brown (38-32) and Sumiton Christian’s Matthew McGough (10-8) went 0-2 in the 152-pound division.
•Dora’s Zach Mann (46-10) went 0-2 in the 182-pound division.
•Sumiton Christian’s Zach Turner (18-17) went 0-2 in the 285-pound division.
