He is survived by his daughter, Kelli Nelson Jetmundsen (Norman); grandchildren, Taylor Norman Jetmundsen, Nelson Andersen Jetmundsen and Jonathan Gordon Jetmundsen, all of Birmingham; his brother, Dan Charles Nelson Jr.; nephews, Dan Nelson and Mark Nelson (Selena), all of Talladega; nieces, Lisa Sherer Reed (Ben) of Atlanta and Susan Sherer Henley (Darby) of Birmingham; uncle and aunt, Louie and Juanita Franklin of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and various cousins, especially Anne Franklin Crawford and Patsy Franklin Emens (Steve) of Tuscaloosa, and Sue Franklin Messer (Ed) of Hernando, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan Charles Nelson and Ethel Franklin Nelson.
He was born in Jasper and graduated from the University of Alabama, where he was Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Eta Sigma and Alpha Epsilon Delta. He received his medical degree from the University of Alabama Medical School. He was a captain in the Air Force, and a physician at the Radiology Clinic of Tuscaloosa.
He was a very loving father and grandfather, who enjoyed playing tennis and watching Alabama football and basketball. He died in the hope of the resurrection.

He was loved by many, especially Ann and Gordon Rosen, Jewel Walters and Billie and Jerald Sherer. Burial service provided by Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
