Earl G. Rigsby, 82, of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at his residence.

There will be no visitation.

Funeral services will be held at graveside today, Jan. 9, 2014, at noon at Curry Cemetery. Charles Bryan and Earl Barnett will officiate.

Rigsby was a charter member of Curry Church of Christ. He served in the Korean Conflict receiving three medals and a Presidential Citation for volunteering to go to Winnipeg, Canada, and Yuma, Ariz., and he was a UMWA coal miner for Drummond Coal Company for 32 Years.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Rigsby; parents, Amos and Millie Rigsby; and brother, Ray Rigsby.

He is survived by his wife, Katie Rigsby of Jasper; children, Gary Rigsby (Sandra) of Huntsville, Paul Rigsby (Ann) of Georgia and Byron Rigsby (Nancy) of Jasper; grandchildren, Shane Rigsby (Kelley) of Huntsville, Richard Rigsby (Lori) of Huntsville, Summer Spradely (Eddie) of Atlanta, Ga., Amber Rigsby (Justin Abernathy) of Dawsonville, Ga., and Kyle Rigsby (Jessica) of Jasper; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Billy Joe Rigsby (Paulette) of Oakman.
