Edith Appling Tolbert, 93, of Birmingham, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014, at East Glen Nursing Home and Rehab.

Visitation will be Monday, April 28, 2014, from noon until 1 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 28, 2014, at 1 p.m. in the Kilgore-Green Chapel with burial at Scott Cemetery. Bryan Richardson will officiate.

Tolbert was preceded in death by her husband, W.R. Tolbert; parents, James and Virgie Appling; siblings, Lurlie Deason, Nelladean Sparks, Billy Dotson Appling and Verla Mae McCullers.

She is survived by her children, Sandra Rutledge Frazer of Birmingham, Gary Tolbert (wife June) of Cullman and Debra Tolbert of Gardendale; grandchildren, Derek Appling, Mark Frazer, Tracyne Korell, Cheryl Howard, Randy Tolbert and Betty Jean Lane; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Kathryn Jennings of Johnson City, Tenn.; brother, Barney Appling (wife Betty) of Huntsville; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
