Eleanor Lee, 76, of Nauvoo, went to her eternal home in heaven Saturday, June 21, 2014, after an extended illness.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 27, 2014, from 10 a.m. until noon at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be Friday, June 27, 2014, at noon in the Kilgore-Green Chapel with Bro. Waymon Ashley and Bro. Mike Jackson officiating.

Burial will be at New Hope Holy Church of Christ Cemetery in the Rosehill community.

Lee was a loving, caring and giving person who never met a stranger and was a faithful member of New Hope Holy Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Lorene Elmore; three sisters, Marie Hammons, Mary Sue “Dude” Verhelst and Glenda McCauley; and two brothers, Ray Elmore and Dee Elmore.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Romie J. Lee of Nauvoo; two sons, Sammy J. Lee (Penelope) and Jerry J. Lee, both of Birmingham; grandchildren, Erin Lee of Los Angeles, California, and Andrew Lee of Birmingham; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Nichols Lee of Trussville; two nieces (she called daughters) Kim McCauley Raper and Tonya McCauley Benson, and their children (she called grandchildren) Deanna Watson Myrick and Caleb Benson, all of Jasper; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Lee, John Howard Lee, Jerry Walker, Mal McCauley, Roger Raper and Gary Benson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Lee, Caleb Benson and Matt Myrick.
