Mr. and Mrs. Mike Tubbs of Oakman are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Brittany Nicole Tubbs, to Christopher David Harmon, son of Phillip and Helen Harmon of The Village, Fla.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of James C. “Buddy” and Jean Tubbs of Oakman, and Lois Hyde of Jasper and the late Cecil Hyde. She graduated from Oakman High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She is currently a nurse at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Clarence Barr of The Villages, Fla., and the late Mildred Barr, and the Paul and Mary Elizabeth Harmon of Bristol, Tenn. He graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, N.C., and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and earned a master’s degree in software engineering and computer science from Auburn University. He is currently a software engineer with Sandia National Labs in Albuquerque, N.M.

The wedding will take place at 4 p.m. on April 2, 2011, at Mountain View Gardens and Ballroom in Springville. Formal invitations have been sent.

The couple will reside in Rio Rancho, N.M., after the wedding.
