Oliver-Herron

Rick and Tam Oliver of Riverside are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jordan Oliver, to Ryan Herron, the son of Joe and Marie Herron of Jasper.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of James and Sue Layton of Forestdale, and James and Betty Oliver of Riverside.

She is a graduate of Victory Christian School and is currently attending Jefferson State College’s nursing program.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Lois Henderson and the late Charles Henderson of Jasper, and the late Sam and Lizzie Herron of Nauvoo.

He is employed with the Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue as an EMT/firefighter.

The wedding will take place on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Christ Church of Branch Cove in Odenville.

Formal invitations have been sent.

Dutton-Kendrick

Eddie and Kathy Dutton of Jasper proudly announce the engagement of their daughter, Holly Jane Dutton, to Clint Allen Kendrick, the son of Randal Kendrick and the late Brenda Kendrick of Booneville, Miss.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Jacksonville State University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a masters of science degree in nursing. She is employed as an adult nurse practitioner in Tupelo, Miss.

The groom-elect is a graduate of the University of Mississippi with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. He is employed as an engineer technician in north Mississippi.

The couple will exchange vows in August in a private ceremony. They will reside in Tupelo, Miss.

Dodd-Downs

Mr. and Mrs. James Dodd of Gadsden, Ala., announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Evangeline Dodd, to Mr. Joseph Reynolds Downs IV of Jasper, Ala.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr.and Mrs. Paul Baker of Gadsden, and the late Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Dodd of Winfield. Miss Dodd is a professional inspirational country music singer who has won many awards for her talent including Inspirational Country Music New Artist of the Year in 2010. She has sung for many events in support of the VSA Arts, including singing at the White House for President George Bush. Recently she celebrated the Girl Scouts 100 year anniversary by performing on the Mall in Washington, D.C.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Reynolds Downs Jr., of Marietta, Ga., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Powell Carter of Birmingham.  Mr. Downs graduated in from Birmingham-Southern College with a bachelor of arts degree in accounting.  He now practices as a certified public accountant and owns his own firm in Jasper.

A family wedding will be held in Birmingham, Ala.
