Scott Stuntz and Beverly Oxford, both of New Orleans, La., are proud to announce the engagement of their daughter, Shannon Stuntz of New Orleans, La., to Derek Nichols of Tupelo, Miss., the son of Joe and Cathy Nichols of Eldridge, Ala.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Jerry and Aldred Oxford of Louisiana and the late Walter “Sonny” and Shirley Stuntz of Louisiana.

Shannon is currently attending Auburn University and will be graduating in May with a bachelor of science in chemical engineering.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Marilyn Nichols and the late Hudson Nichols of Owensboro, Ky., Roy and Mary Lou Jackson of Nashville, Tenn., and the late Anne Jackson of Nashville.

Derek graduated from Auburn University in 2010 with a bachelor of arts in communication and is currently pursuing a masters of divinity from the Harding School of Theology in Nashville. He is the youth minister for the Lee Acres Church of Christ in Tupelo, Miss.

The wedding will take place Saturday, May 17, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Magnolia Planation in New Orleans. Formal invitations have been sent.
