Erma Lee Walton, 76, of Oakman, went to be with the Lord on July 9, 2013, at Ridgeview Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was surrounded by loved ones as she went to receive her reward for a life well lived.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Walton Sr.; sons, Roy Walton Jr. (Sheila) and Kenny Walton (Cecelia); son-in-law, Jim Woods; sisters, Lorene Kellum (Armond) and Bee Bostwick (Charles); and brothers, Bill McCoy and Charles McCoy (Sandra).

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Woods; and her parents, Nora and Creed McCoy.

She had 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was a faithful member of the Parrish Church of Christ, where she taught Bible classes and served as an Elders wife. She grew up in Jasper and attended Walker High School. She married the love of her life, Roy Walton Sr. on June 20, 1953 in Tupelo, Miss. She worked at Weinsteins Clothing Store for approximately five years and then at AT&T for 21 years before retiring. She enjoyed being involved with her grandchildren, watching them play sports and teaching their Bible classes. She enjoyed vacationing at the beach and especially the Smoky Mountains. She loved to cook and have her family together often. She was a great example of what a Christian woman should be and was a devoted wife to her husband for 60 years.

Thank you to the Parrish Church of Christ for your diligent support and prayers from so manyon her behalf. A special thank you to Tommy Coger who has been a tremendous help and caregiver during her extended illness.
