Ernest Ralph Pendley, 76, of Lynn, passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, in Winfield.

Funeral services will be held today, Dec. 31, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville. The Rev. Tim Box and the Rev. David Awtrey will officiate. Special music will be presented by the Renfroes and Melanie Box. Pallbearers will be Jerry Coan, Rickey Witt, Joey Boteler, Tim Courington, Verlon Pendley and R.B. Waldrop. Burial will follow at Lynn Cemetery.

He was co-owner of Basic Supply Company in Lynn with his partner, Jerry Coan, for 43 years. Ralph was a longtime member of Lynn Baptist Church, where he served as the church treasurer for many years. He was an outstanding high school athlete in both basketball and football and was honored by becoming a member of the Winston County Sports Hall of Fame in its inaugural class of 1997. Ralph was an avid golfer and a loving father and husband who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mantie Dodd Pendley; father, Ernest Pendley; sister, Edith Bremmerman; brothers-in-law, Bill Bremmerman and Eddie Lindsey; nephew, John Barton; and great-nephew, Chris Pendley.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Wakefield Pendley; son, Mike (Sally) Pendley; daughter, Melinda Bryan; grandchildren, Abbey (Steve) Cagle, Ellie Pendley, Jenny Pendley and John Bryan; brother, Gene Pendley; sisters, Betty Rose Lindsey and Barbara (Charles) Awtrey; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other friends and relatives.
