BIRMINGHAM — Nine wrestlers from the Daily Mountain Eagle coverage area are bound for the AHSAA State Wrestling Championship Tournament in Huntsville next weekend, with two grapplers securing championships at the North Super Section Tournament at the Birmingham Crossplex on Saturday.

Dora’s Austin Everett won the 126 lbs. section championship, going a perfect 4-0 in tournament matches. With the title-winning victory, Everett will be the North’s first-seed going into Friday’s opening round action.

Sumiton Christian’s Matthew McGough also went a perfect 4-0 in the tournament to earn the 160 lbs. title and the North’s top spot for next week.

The Dora Bulldogs finished the tournament with a team total of 135 points to earn a third-place ranking in the Class 1-4A section.
