The Walker County Chapter of the University of Alabama National Alumni Association will hold its annual fall kickoff meeting and membership drive Thursday at Los Reyes in downtown Jasper.

Brandon Gibson, a former wide receiver for the Crimson Tide, will greet alumni and friends offering an inside look at Crimson Tide football. The event begins at 6 p.m.

Gibson, who played for Alabama from 2007-2011, will be the featured speaker at the kickoff meeting. He was part of Coach Nick Saban’s national championship teams in 2009 and 2011.

Each spring, the Walker County Chapter hosts an annual golf tournament — The Bama Scramble — to raise funds for local scholarships. The chapter is responsible for awarding more than $35,000 in scholarships to local freshmen who began their University of Alabama college experience this fall. There are currently nine scholarship funds that have a balance in excess of $650,000.

Membership in the local chapter is available at three levels – single, $25; family, $40 and scholarship, $50 or more. The chapter is comprised of both UA alumni and friends for the University. Everyone is invited to join.
