Francis LaJoy Steadman, 73, of Jasper, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. He married his sweetheart of 52 years on Dec. 25, 1965. His hobbies were country music and old cars.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Oct. 27, 2012, at Collins-Burke Funeral Home Parlor. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at Collins-Burke Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Jasper. Richard Harbin will officiate.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Francis Joseph Steadman; parents, James (Jamie) and Clevedale Steadman; and brother, Bob Steadman.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Steadman of Jasper; daughter, Carol Ann Gruber of Anniston; sons, Jason LaJoy Steadman of Lupton and Jamie Clevedale Steadman (Misty) of Bear Creek; brother, Wallace Ray Steadman (Fay) of Birmingham; grandchildren, Brooke Gruber, Katelyne Gruber, Hailee Steadman and Chloe Steadman; and a granddaughter due in December.

Pallbearers will be Ray Steadman, Roger Steadman, Robbie Steadman, Thomas Steadman, Marty Mitchell, Jeremey Shipman and Jack Hargrove.
