Alabama’s tax-free weekend for back-to-school purchases is underway.

The tax holiday began Friday and runs through Sunday. Walker County residents were already taking advantage of the lack of sales tax Friday. Shayelei Price of Cordova helps her grandmother Joann Wright pick out school supplies at K-Mart in Jasper.

Eligible items include clothing costing less than $100 per item, computers selling for less than $750, school supply items costing less than $50 each, and books priced less than $30 each.
