Harold Bill Lee, 81, passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving evening, Nov. 22,2012, at Ridgeview Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family. Harold was born on April 12, 1931, in Jasper, the son of James Russell and Alice Grace (Shadinger) Lee. He attended school in Thach, where he was an accomplished athlete, especially on the basketball court. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army from 1952 until his discharge in 1954. Harold worked at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville before returning to Jasper and Walker County. Many years were spent coaching youth sports including football and Little League baseball. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and his beloved animals. A livestock auction always seemed to be calling him. His main love, however, was for his family and friends. He loved seeing friends around town, often reconnecting with those he'd coached in years gone by. Harold Lee never met a stranger.

He is survived by his spouse, Becky (Cohron) Lee; his former spouse, Rose (Burton) Banks; his children, Beverlye Black and Rick (Merry) Lee, of Birmingham and Phillip (Sheri) of Jasper. He is also survived by stepsons, Robert, Reginald and Dwayne Howell. He leaves to mourn their loss five grandchildren, Dustin Black, Logan Black, Kelly Colvert, Elizabeth Lee and Parker Lee.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Matt Lee.

Also, he had great-grandchildren Deacon, Declan and Dalton Black, Jacob and Austin Colvert. Patsy Knight of Texas is his lone surviving sibling. He was predeceased by sister, Eva Hinton; and brothers John, James, Lecil and Franklin 'Dee' Lee.

Visitation is Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, from noon until 2 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home in Jasper. Memorial service will follow at 2 p.m., with interment at Memorial Gardens. Mike Jackson will officiate.
