The body of a Hueytown teenager was recovered from the Warrior River Monday morning.

Austin Lee Raney, 19, was found by divers in the White Oak Creek area of the Warrior River in Walker County around 9 a.m. Monday. John Howard, an member of the Alabama Marine Police, said the teen's body was found about 25 feet from where friends said he fell into the water Sunday night.

Howard said Raney was a recent graduate of McAdory High School and had spent the day on the river with friends and family. Friends said Raney was attempting to jump from a large boulder high above the water when he lost his balance and tumbled into the water below.

"They tried to search for him and couldn't find him," Howard said. "The water in that area is about 40 feet deep."

Divers from Hoover and Concord were called to the scene as well as deputies from the Walker County Sheriff's Office.

"We had a lot of help with the search," Howard said. "This was a terrible accident, but I am happy that we could locate his body. Our thoughts definitely go out to the family."
