Hugh Thomas “Tom” Russell, 84, of Cordova, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at Pine Place Assisted Living in Arley. Tom was one of nine children of Simpson “Simp” and Parazella “Parrot” Russell. When Tom’s father died, he had to quit the 6th grade to help his mother raise his brothers and sisters. He worked in the coal mines and was a proud member of Cordova Masonic Lodge 559.

A masonic graveside service will be at 2 p.m on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cordova.

He is survived by his wife, Onella Kelly Russell; step-daughters, Kay Robnett (Jeff) of Cordova, Kellie Owens (Clyde) and Kim Crow (Brent); brothers, James Russell and Jack Russell; a host of nieces, nephews and friends; five step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
