Irma June Ballenger Williams Calabrese, 73, left her earthly home in Sumiton to be with our heavenly Father on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014.

June was born December 29, 1940, to Delcie and Earl Ballenger in Dora, where she was raised and attended Dora High School. June attended the University of Alabama where she earned both Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Art degrees. June proudly served her community by teaching school in both the Jefferson and the Walker County school systems for more than 30 years.

Her love for teaching and for the children she taught resulted in numerous teaching awards. Ms. Williams will be fondly remembered as a special teacher in the lives of countless children.

June was loved by all who knew her and will be missed immensely.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 10 brothers and sisters.

June leaves behind her loving children, James Williams (Lisa), Karen Hills (Joe), Cheryl Sides and Mark Williams (Jennifer). She was blessed with six grandchildren, Kelsey Williams, Austin Williams, Sharee Green, Michaelyn Owens, Caeley Williams and Connor Williams; and three great-grandchildren, Madison Owens, and Ethan and Gavin Green. She is also survived by her sister, Datha Maloney (Larry); and by her brothers, Arlon Ballenger (Billie) and Paul Ballenger.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at 2 p.m. with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. at Bell Funeral Home in Sumiton. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery. Reverend Chris Wilson will officiate.
