Visitation will be today, April 24, 2014, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Bell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 25, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the Bell Sumiton Chapel with burial in Bryan Cemetery. The Rev. James Aycox will officiate.
May was born June 28, 1929, in Walker County to the late William and Ruth Henson May. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart three times. He was a professional truck driver for 35 years and retired from Motor Convoy in 1989. May was a member of the West Jefferson Masonic Lodge #670.
In addition to his parents, May was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia May; wife, Janice Stafford May; sisters, Barbara Wingo and Wavelyn Glover; and brothers, Herschel May and Leon May.
Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Peggy May; sons, Jim May (Vicki) of Muscle Shoals and Lee May (Connie) of Mount Hope; sisters, Linda Rouse of Sumiton and Joan Phillips (Ray) of Wake Village, Texas; brother, Harold May (Linda) of Fultondale; step-children, Charles Snider (Angie), Bobby Snider (Jennifer), Sharon Wright (Allen), Brenda Pate, Cindy Spinks (Pat), Jerry Taft (Debbie) and Robbin Caradine (Jack); five grandchildren; 23 step-grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie May, Jason May, Lee May, Kent Glover, Michael Trimm and Derrick Rouse.
